Carbon Capture

Putting the rabbit back in the hat

Coal-fired power plants produce more than half of the world’s carbon emissions. So governments and industry are working to develop carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). Transporting and storing carbon dioxide seems manageable. But capturing it is extremely costly and takes huge amounts of energy, making the plants less efficient and their energy more expensive. Global adoption, especially in developing countries, seems unlikely.
